Wyatt has been without training wheels for about a year. It turns out riding a bike without training wheels doesn't mean you're actually able to ride. Wyatt's body is a little ahead of his brain. Don't get me wrong I think he's a brilliant problem solver. I've seen him stack all manner of random house hold objects to create a climbing structure to reach another random object that he plans to use at a tool to open something that contains yet another random object he needs to use to create some kind of make-believe world around one of his Lego boats. Given enough time Wyatt will solve just about anything. Thinking on the fly is his struggle. His balance is good, he understands how to pedal, and he's pretty powerful. Thinking ahead of time however was making bicycle riding a real threat to his good health. Today Wyatt turned the corner (no pun intended). We've been practicing a lot and today he started thinking ahead enough to plan his route in and out of the sidewalk. This is a very big step. Now instead of bombing down the driveway and running head long into the neighbor's garage door, Wyatt is making circles around our neighborhood front yard. See him in action below.
